Dr Terrence “TK” Kim is a highly experienced and renowned spinal surgeon and has an important leadership position in the Spine Institute Foundation (SIF) as the Director of Education and Spine Fellowship Training program for the past 14 years.
Dr Kim is an outstanding spinal surgeon and educator and clinical research innovator who has become one of the most highly experienced spine surgeons in the United States in computer guided spinal navigation and robotic surgery. He has been conducting extensive research, publishing manuscripts in leading journals and lecturing at national and international conferences and in recent years becoming an expert leader in development of computer guided and robotic spinal surgery. He has also been invited to lecture at international conferences around the globe as well as his international humanitarian efforts educating surgeons in underserved countries through “Health Volunteers Overseas.” He looks forward creating new opportunities for training more surgeons at home in the US and abroad.
He is the son of a physician and multiple family members who are doctors in the medical field. His medical school training was at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and his Orthopaedic residency at The University of Maryland Medical Center/Shock Trauma Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He completed a combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgical complex spine fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in 2009, and he then joined the Cedars staff conducting his complex spinal surgical practice and training both the Orthopedic and Neurosurgical residency and fellowship trainees on a daily basis. The Foundation provides additional support to Dr support as one the premier surgeons at one of the premier training environments in the world for young surgeons.
Dr Kim sees the mission of the Foundation is to nurture and develop compassionate physicians and surgeons that we train in the most basic and the most advanced technical skills to deliver the highest level of care available and prepare them for their future careers as the next leaders in Spinal Surgery.
